Rhythm of the Drum — His Beat
2026 · Acrylic, spray paint, and mixed media on canvas with impasto relief, photoluminescent pigment, and trompe-l’œil dimensionality · 36 × 48 in (91.4 × 121.9 cm)
“A study in power, grounding, and ancestral pulse — the drummer as keeper of cultural memory and communal rhythm.”
Surface & Light
In Full Light
He holds the beat. Built from layered acrylic washes, atmospheric spray, and raised textural relief, His Beat captures a figure in full command — grounded, deliberate, present. The texture is not decoration; it is the body’s weight and authority made physical. The drum does not accompany the figure. The figure is the drum.
In Low Light
When the room dims, photoluminescent pigment embedded within the layers awakens a second drummer — the ancestral beat beneath the visible one. His Beat holds two men: the one you see in daylight, and the one who has always been keeping time. Two paintings. One canvas.
